Tulips
Every year in April there is a Tulip Festival about an hour from where we live. We heard a bit about it last year but have never been to see the beauty. So this year we decided to go see what all the fuss was about. We must have looked like we were leaving for a week with all the stuff that we had to take with us. We were told that it is really muddy so be prepared. So I was. I had a change of clothes for everyone, boots for all of us that had them, extra sox, snacks (cause you have to have those when you have children), and of course my camera stuff. Off we went.
THe first thing we saw an enormous field of daffodils. It was really quite amazing. A blanket of yellow almost as far as you could see. Both the boys were amazed at all the color. After driving a bit on the tulip route we found a field that we could get out and walk in to see the tulips up close. So all bundled up in our layers and boots we set out to see them. They were really beautiful. However Ezra was not that interested in the flowers. At first he thought they were pretty and wanted to smell them. Then when we got to the field of tulips he discovered a much more interesting way to spend his time. Mud puddles! Boy was that exciting. Stomping in the puddles, splashing anyone that was near. Now that was fun! Of course on about his 4th puddle he slipped and sat down in it. Fortunately it was not one of the larger ones and it only got one side of him wet. I was going to take him to the car to get that extra change of clothes that I brought but he did not want to leave. All he wanted was for his hand to be cleaned. He looked at me and said “wipe?”. Once I got a wipe out and cleaned off his hand he was on to the next puddle. If you look at his jeans in the picture of him on the grass in front of some white and pink tulips you can see where he sat down. He was a mess! But oh the fun he had!
